Hemp Seed & Hemp Heart Protein Powder
Our Hemp Seed & Hemp Heart Protein Powder is 100% natural, NZ grown and produced. It is an awesome high-quality source of plant-protein offering 50-52% hemp protein content, great for healthy active lifestyles and those in need of a plant-based protein alternative. NZ Hemp Seed Protein (52%) is a free flowing earthy, green powder with a nutty hemp flavour, making it the perfect addition to both savoury and sweet. Hemp Heart Protein Powder (50%) is a free-flowing light-cream powder with a more subtle hemp flavour profile.

What’s the difference between our Hemp Seed and Hemp Heart protein?
We have just launched our new Hemp Heart Protein Powder, which is produced from the hemp hearts and is cream in colour and has a more subtle hemp flavour. Our popular Hemp Seed Protein is produced from the whole seed and has earthy green tones and an earthy, nutty flavour profile. These both provide a tasty, nutritional boost to both savoury and sweet dishes.

Your questions, answered
What is the recommended daily intake and how do I store the powder?
Blend 1-2 scoops of protein powder with water, milk or nut milk for a healthy dose of highly digestible plant protein. Can also be used in smoothies, acai bowls, porridge or any other type of baking.
Store in a cool, dry place. Hemp Connect products keep well for up to 12 months, but we recommend you consume them within three months of opening.
Why is hemp a ‘complete’ plant protein?
There are many sources of plant-based protein, but not all can be considered ‘complete’ proteins.
Hemp seeds contain the nine essential amino acids. These are very important as humans are incapable of naturally producing them and they must come from your diet.
Hemp seeds are an exceptional plant protein containing a wide range of essential amino acids, fatty acids, macro and micro-nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. It’s a powerful combination rarely found in other plant proteins.
What makes hemp protein easier to digest than other protein powders?
Hemp protein is very bio-available, meaning your body can easily and efficiently digest and breakdown the hemp protein into a useable form.
Hemp has been shown to have a Protein Digestibility-Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) of up to 92.1 for hulled hemp seed and up to 97.5 for hemp protein. These scores indicate that the protein ingested has a very efficient conversion to usable amino acids.
What percentage protein are your protein powders?
Our vanilla (63%) protein and chocolate (57%) protein powders contain certified organic protein. Our hemp seed (52%) protein and hemp heart (50%) protein powders are both NZ grown and made.
Is your hemp gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free?
Yes!
We’re committed to delivering a wheat-free product, we have a specialised combine harvester that is used exclusively for hemp. Our certified organic processing factory is used solely for processing our NZ-grown hemp.
Our in-house food technologist ensures the standard for food safety and quality assurance is consistently met.
Is your hemp spray-free?
Yes!
Our hemp seed is 100% spray-free and all farming practices adhere to the highest standards of food safety and health and safety. We believe hemp should be protected from any unnecessary heat treatment or anything that would diminish its incredible compounds and nutrients.
Hemp Connect also works with a number of farmers that grow strictly organic hemp seed, and others that grow hemp as part of their rotational cropping cycle.
